Policy & advocacy lead
Pananet biz Africa is looking for a strategic Policy & Advocacy Lead to represent the interests of our entrepreneurs at the government and institutional level. You will analyze legislation, build coalitions with other Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs), and lobby for policies—such as the Startup Act—that lower the barriers to doing business in Africa. You are our voice in the rooms where the "rules of the game" are written.
Key Responsibilities
Legislative Analysis: Monitor and analyze new laws, tax policies, and trade agreements (like the AfCFTA) that impact SMEs and startups.
Government Relations: Build and maintain high-level relationships with Ministries of Trade, ICT, and Finance, as well as international bodies like UNIDO.
Coalition Building: Represent Pananet biz Africa in industry associations like ASSEK to create a unified front for ecosystem advocacy.
Policy Papers: Author white papers and "position statements" based on data from our MEL Officer to prove the need for specific policy changes.
Public Speaking: Participate in high-level summits and forums to advocate for the African entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Legal Compliance Advisory: Help the Operations & Finance Lead navigate the legal nuances of expanding Pananet into new African territories.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years in Public Policy, Law, Government Relations, or Economic Research. Experience working with development agencies is a plus.
Legal Knowledge: A deep understanding of business law, intellectual property, and taxation frameworks across key African markets.
Communication: Elite level of persuasive writing and public speaking. Ability to simplify complex laws for our founders.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify "policy wins" that will have the biggest positive impact on our founders' bottom lines.
Network: An existing network within government agencies or business member organizations is highly desirable.

The opportunity to influence national and regional economic policy.
